Throwing darts at the map to find the best place for tech jobs just got a little easier, especially for those whose aim tends to drift to the right, and we’re not talking New York City.

This video by Mashable serves up some obvious options outside of Silicon Valley, such as the Seattle/Bellevue/Tacoma area, but the East and South also offer some interesting options with more affordable real estate.

Grilling up some cupcakewurst

Up to this point, the grill was reserved for meat and the occasional roasted veggie, but now Dad can whip up his own dessert on the barbie with a little help from sausage casings.

Yes, we did just pair the words “dessert” and “sausage casing.”

This mad idea is the brainchild of Stef at CupcakeProject, who offers up this delectable recipe to show up the neighbors at this year’s block party.

It took a lot of experimentation to conquer Cupcakewurst. I had hoped to be able to cook the Cupcakewurst entirely on the grill, but I found that the direct heat of the grill was more than the poor sausages could handle - they kept exploding and meeting their demise on the coals. I had the same problem in the oven: when I cooked the Cupcakewurst at the standard cupcake baking temperature of 350 F, they kept bursting open. I finally found the sweet spot of baking at 325 F and only filling the casings halfway. Even so, some of the casings still got small holes in them during baking. At 325 F, however, the cake cooked enough before the casings broke that only a small amount of batter oozed out through the holes. The small mess could easily be wiped up and the sausages were all usable.

When drinking with Grandpa, you open bottles with some serious old-school style.

The incredible part is how he doesn’t even spill it, though you have to give him a little leeway for the foam. That’s what you call a pro.

Nothing says “Worst birthday party ever” to a vegan like decorating with meat balloons, but rest assured, these hand-painted savory beauties were only meant to don the halls of Japan Premium Beef for New York Design Week.

Lest you dismiss this as a cheap novelty, each balloon took three hours to make and the Balloon Factory that produced them began at a gallery in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago to represent ODL’s “…interest in manufacturing, distribution, and everyday items.”

Of the window display for Japan Premium Beef, they explained that,

“This time around, we’re emphasizing the fleshy quality of latex balloons. The formers are shaped like specific cuts of meat—porterhouse, flank, filet mignon, and t-bone—and different size sausages. To imitate marbling on the steaks, the balloon formers are dripped with red, pink, or brown, after an initial clear coat of latex. We get the appropriate look by erratically rotating the balloon mold and blowing on it, forcing the colors to flow together in all directions. For sausages, the process is similar, but the former is rotated more slowly, producing a different effect."

Now, that’s art anyone could sink their teeth into.

We hate to say it, but we’re hoping the hospital keeps tabs on some of these kids and offers a free name change when they turn eighteen.
