Old tires aren’t generally a thing of beauty unless they’re lucky enough to find themselves in the incredibly patient and skilled hands of Belgian artist Wim Delvoye.

Delvoye takes old tires and carves them into works of art sure to rival the flashiest mag wheels out there.

Delvoye’s own personal way of describing his artwork in an ironic fashion is “glocal”, referring to a combination between “local” and “global”.

They may not be road worthy, but they’re certainly wall worthy.

While old songs never seem to die, plenty of other noises that provide the background to our lives fall by the wayside without ever having a proper sendoff; that is, until Brendan Chilcutt began the Museum of Endangered Sounds.

Imagine a world where we never again hear the symphonic startup of a Windows 95 machine. Imagine generations of children unacquainted with the chattering of angels lodged deep within the recesses of an old cathode ray tube TV. And when the entire world has adopted devices with sleek, silent touch interfaces, where will we turn for the sound of fingers striking QWERTY keypads? Tell me that. And tell me: Who will play my GameBoy when I'm gone?

His master plan is to continue compiling data until 2015, so if you have suggestions, be sure to head over to the site to get an audio blast from the past and make sure your favorite sounds aren’t forgotten.

Who says football is only for jocks? Not the brilliant minds at MinutePhysics, who have examined the game in a way rarely – if ever – heard from analysts during the season (and that’s saying something if you’ve ever really listened to the immense amount of pointless yammering that goes on between plays, much less the six days in between games).

Here’s to looking at football with new eyes.
