It is a truism that people want to believe in causes greater than themselves. That belief is central to the nature of purpose and its role in organizational intention, and even in the way we focus.

It is also true for leadership. Followers want to believe that their leader stands for something and, to an extent, might be better than anyone else at the job. Such conviction defines the reason followers defer willingly to leaders.

Since 1980, over nine-tenths of all cities, suburbs, and small towns have become more diverse, and the trend includes rural communities.

“What really stands out is the near-universal nature of the trend toward greater racial and ethnic diversity at the local level,” says Barry Lee, professor of sociology and demography at Penn State, and co-author of the US 2010 policy brief.

“One of the surprises is that even small towns now have to adapt to newcomers who are from different backgrounds than their longtime residents," says Lee.

When designers contemplate materials, concrete isn’t usually high on the list, but a few enterprising souls with durability in mind decided to break the mold of keeping it confined to sidewalks and flooring and use it for furniture, jewelry and even flashdrives.

Concrete is an emerging fashion! Imagine a Coffee Machine made of cement. Well it does exist, and looks mystically enigmatic. Israeli design student Schmuel Linkski came up with this concrete-encased Lavazza unit, which makes a bold description of the appliance's durability. Linkski explains his vision behind using concrete. "Concrete is in the kitchen, and not only as a wall or decorative part. I wanted it to be a desirable consumer product."

Shu-Chun Hsiao designed a new form of durable flash drive which is made from concrete. These flash drives can withstand almost any form of hard usage. Don't just look at how hard it is, because you have a rock amount ofstorage with 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB. The weight seems to vary, or you can say it depends on the storage capacity. That's not all, because the flash drive uses USB 2.0 interface. As for availability, you won't find them in the market. These are just concept.

Capturing that perfect moment when the light is less than ideal doesn’t have to be illusive if one considers the challenges of taking pictures in low light as creative opportunities, according to SnapSort, but we know plenty of people out there would just be happy with getting a decent shot if not a masterpiece.

Believe it or not, boys and girls, there was a time when every high school student was not issued a copy of The Great Gatsby and forced to read it the night before the exam and desperate souls had to be sold on Sylvia Plath.

If you don’t believe us, there’s plenty of proof in New York Times’ book critic Dwight Garner’s book, Read Me: A Century of Classic American Book Advertisements, a sampling of which is on display over at Brain Pickings.
