The event planning business is all about keeping all the balls in the air going strong, because missing a beat could mean a very angry client and a bad ending to all the careful planning that goes into a great party, conference or fundraiser.

If you’ve decided to forge ahead and get into this exciting business, Online Event Registration India has seven tips to keep in mind to keep the show on the road.

1. The foremost thing that the event planner must keep in mind is to maintain a checklist and note down important tasks that needs to be executed within the specified timelines. Keep handy, the contacts of the suppliers in case you need to get in touch with them for emergencies. Also have a back-up list for suppliers just so if one of the key suppliers fail to meet the target. If budget permits, engage the best suppliers; this will add up to your reputation.

2. The budget is the most important factor and if the funds are not distributed in proportion, there will be chances of a deficit. So consider the capital required for various expenses such as the menu, stage arrangements, decorations, transportation, payments to the suppliers and vendors, etc.

3. Book the venue at least six months prior to the event date. This will provide you with ample time to inspect the venue and deal with any issues that may arise in this interim period. Additionally, it is advisable to hire the venue in advance in order to out in the details in the guest invites as early as possible.

Last week, I wrote about how Apple is a master at announcing products. But the company’s marketing strategy isn’t infallible.

In a recent Monday Note blog post, former Apple executive Jean-Louis Gassée criticizes the company’s commercials that focus on the iPhone’s Siri feature, saying they stray from the advertising and marketing plan of focusing on the product that had become quintessentially Apple.

Do you feel as bad about a little lie as a big one? Is there a difference between stealing a dime from petty cash and grabbing a pencil on the way out the door? Can we do bad things without feeling we’re bad people?

Dan Ariely, professor of psychology and behavioural economics at Duke University, explores these questions and much more concerning the nature of dishonesty, but as for his claims, we’ll just have to take him at his word.

For the first time, scientists have used gene therapy to restore the sense of smell in mice, offering hope to people with a similar condition.

“Using gene therapy in a mouse model of cilia dysfunction, we were able to rescue and restore olfactory function, or sense of smell,” says senior study author Jeffrey Martens, an associate professor of pharmacology at the University of Michigan.

“Essentially, we induced the neurons that transmit the sense of smell to regrow the cilia they’d lost.”

People who have highly demanding jobs and little freedom to make decisions are 23 percent more likely to have a heart attack than those without stress, a new study shows.

“Our findings indicate that job strain is associated with a small, but consistent, increased risk of experiencing a first CHD event such as a heart attack," say the University College London researchers.

Can’t stand winter because you just never found slippers that were man enough for you? Fear no frostbite thanks to the most manly slippers of all, the Panzer Tiger tank slippers.

The best part is that you can kiss those smirks over being a proud man-crafter goodbye, because not only will you be sporting a killer pair of cozy kicks, you’ll have crocheted them yourself with a pattern from Etsy.

Just make sure to use a cotton yarn that breathes to avoid any awkward chemical warfare references when you remove them for bed.
