High on a mountaintop in Chile where the atmosphere allows for the clearest view of space, the cooperative effort of 120 scientists from around the world is providing us with some out-of-this-world shots of the universe.

The Dark Energy Camera uses “…62 separate CCD sensors and a 13-foot light-gathering mirror” to take 570 megapixel pictures of the sky, and is so sensitive that each picture “…shows over 100,000 separate galaxies that are up to 8 billion light years away.”

Before your own pictures start feeling small in comparison, comfort yourself that this camera doesn’t ask the universe to smile before taking a picture, so it lacks that personal touch.

A newly released volume of Einstein’s papers covers a turbulent 15 months in his life and include previously unpublished letters, some expressing desire for “a normal life.”

“This latest volume is extraordinarily rich, and illuminates in great detail Einstein’s scientific work and his exchanges and collaboration with many scientists in Europe, Japan, and the US,” says Diana Kormos-Buchwald, the general editor of the series, a professor of history at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and the director of the Einstein Papers Project.

“Most striking is seeing Einstein so thoroughly engaged in numerous professional and political activities while in private worrying about his own safety, given the rather violent atmosphere in Berlin at the time,” adds Kormos-Buchwald.

In all the hullabaloo over who said what, did what, didn’t do what and did or did not pay what, you may have overlooked the most important part of this election: Whether or not you can vote.

Luckily, Reyhan Harmanci at Buzzfeed has a plethora of ways to make sure you’re ready to go in November for online users and those who still live in the real world.

Even if you’re pretty sure you are registered, it doesn’t hurt to double check seeing how many states are in the process of putting new guidelines in place.

Check out the full article, so you can check the box of your choice, then call Grandma and make sure she’s registered, too.
