Power tips for working at home when you have kids (yes, it's possible!)

It's a blessing to work at home with your children. Most parents have to spend 8-10 hours a day away from their kids, after all. Unfortunately, sometimes it's not the best for business. Open Forum offers some advice on how to manage both a business and children so that you can get the most out of both. For example:

Set late night limits

No spouse wants to spend the evening on the couch alone while their significant other spends the entire evening (and into the early morning, in some cases) working on their business. Set limits on the amount of late nights you put in. Sure, it may take more time for your business to grow, but your marriage will thank you. Keep post-bedtime work hours to a minimum or stick with a two-day-a-week schedule so your spouse can feel the love as much as your business does.

Power through nap time

If there's a guaranteed two-hour window every day when your youngest ones nap, don’t take that time to do cooking or housework. The moment they are in bed, get down to business and power through the absolute “must dos” for the day.

3 questions that help you manage the unknown

Even the most fearless execs have one thing to fear: the unknown. It's the unknown that keeps you awake at nights, but it's also the unknown dangers that sneak up on us. We can manage those unknown dangers with these three questions, offered up by CBS Money Watch. Here are just two:

What is the worst that could happen to us? This question prompts many scenarios from a natural disaster to a market crash, or even the entry of a significant new competitor who changes the balance in the market place. What happens then? Executives need to keep their antennae up.

How would we react? Very often companies have disaster plans. But are they robust? That is, do they stipulate what happens when resources are not available or executives and employees are separated from each other.

A racy online campaign for sportswear brand Stussy promises that a model will peel off more and more clothing as she receives Facebook "Likes"

"Like to see less, and share to undress." With this tantalizing appeal to Facebook users, fashion brand Stussy hopes to build buzz for its racy new online ad campaign, "Strip for Likes," which debuted with a female model dressed in umpteen layers of Stussy clothes. The more "Likes" the ad has received on Facebook, the more layers the model has taken off. Will Stussy's saucy campaign ultimately build awareness — or will its raciness backfire?

World's first lickable wallpaper

Have you ever been tempted to lick the wall of an elevator? No, we haven’t either, and, really, it’s more natural to avoid touching them at all because, if you really think about it, how often are those things washed?

Anyway…

Apparently, someone at Jaffa Cakes did have this strange urge and shared it with fellow weirdos at a communications company in London where the World’s First Lickable Lift has been installed.

According to The Sun, the unique ad installation took food technicians and artists four weeks to develop. To answer the hygiene question, once a Jaffa Cake is licked, they’re removed by the bell boy so no one else can lick the same cake twice.

Really? How much is that bell boy being paid, because we’ll betcha he lets it slide when he knows the rude person who never says hello and makes smart remarks about his uniform is expected. Hey, everyone has a breaking point and if you’re going to start licking elevators, you take a few risks in the bargain.
