An exotic fungus may follow the lead of shiitake mushrooms and become a hit with farmers.

Lion’s mane (Hericium erinaceus) could provide new opportunities for farmers, woodlot owners, and even backyard mushroom enthusiasts, says Ken Mudge, associate professor of horticulture at Cornell University.

Don’t have any plans yet for this Sunday’s Earth Day? Why not grab a pic-a-nic basket Yogi Bear-style and head into the great outdoors with what will hopefully be a record-setting crowd?

The Conservancy launched Picnic for the Planet last year as a way to remind people that conservation is integral to our sources of food and clean water. The Conservancy works closely with the people who produce our food — farmers, ranchers and fishermen — all around the world.

If this sounds like fun, head over to the website for more information and to register your event.

Can you ignore the lure of email? A subject line that looks like Kayne West WROTE IT, an "urgent" flag, or a forward of dancing cats from Uncle Frank--all can draw you into checking your email compulsively. For those moments of e-weakness, Wendy MacNoughton and Forbes offer a handy flowchart.

Drive gadget geeks’ olfactory bulbs wild by dousing yourself in the smell of a freshly opened Mac. A new cologne by Air Aroma and Greatest Hits captures the aromatic funk of the aluminum casing, plastic keys, and crisp cardboard packaging, triggering memories of that first Mac experience.

Scent specialists created the fragrance, dubbed “De Facto Standard,” at a lab in France by carefully piecing together glue, plastic, rubber and paper smells to perfectly match the odor emitted while “unboxing.”

"Hey, baby, your unibody is so slammin', you don't need an optical drive."

All the Mac, none of the funk.

Although it’s been more than a quarter of a century since these slick renewable energy poster designs first saw the light of day, the messages of Kettler Ecological Design still ring true today as the industry continues its quest to make a sizable impression in the energy landscape.

Pick your favorite for only $12.50 or get the whole set of four for only $40.00, plus shipping. In another twenty years, they’ll hopefully be a quaint reminder that once upon a time, renewables needed a PR campaign.
